Lagos Creek Medical Centre, Circa 1933Creek Medical Centre (previously known as Federal Staff Clinic, Lagos, and also referred to as Military Medical Centre, Lagos) is a healthcare facility located in Onikan, Lagos Island.Originally established in the 1880s as a European medical facility, it was designed to cater to the well-being of European expatriates in colonial Lagos. Dr. Gray and Atkins were among its pioneering physicians. The hospital gained a strong reputation for medical excellence in Nigeria.In 1924, the colonial administration officially took over and renamed it Creek Medical Centre. A year later, in 1925, it became European Medical Centre, before being rebranded as Military Medical Centre, Onikan, Lagos, in 1947.The facility, later known as Federal Staff Clinic, continued its services at Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, before relocating to Apo Legislative Quarters following the transition of federal civil servants from Lagos to Abuja.Over time, Creek Medical Centre expanded from a 28-bed facility to a 150-bed hospital, enhancing its capacity to serve the medical needs of Lagos residents.Source: asirimagazine
