Episode 3.
...I ran as fast as my legs could carry me home without looking back. The way I threw open my door and dashed into the room made sleeping Donatus jerk up all of a sudden and started to look around.
'Guy what is it now?! What's after you?!!' Donatus queried curiously, trying to force his eyes open.
I stood in the middle of the room panting, with a hand on my waist and the other on my chest.
'Omo, I can't even explain what I saw o, guy I'm scared ' I let out still panting heavily.
'Talk to me now, what did you see?' Donatus questioned, now kneeling on the bed with eyes glued to me.
'Remember that little boy?' I queried.
'Yes, the one you saw yesterday?' he asked
'Omo, the mama na ghost o I swear '
'Ghost how?' he probed.
'Ah! My phone fell off my hand o when I was about bringing it out from my pocket when I had a call. I was picking it up from the ground when all of a sudden my eyes went in between my legs an I saw just the little boy standing without the mother. I raised my head and there she was but I wasn't properly convinced what I saw. I bent over and looked in between my legs again and didn't see her. Omo, na so I weez o (I took to my heels).'
Donatus's jaw dropped and was trying to close his mouth but all attempts failed, fear was immediately written all over his face.
'Are you serious about this?' he summoned the courage to ask
'I swear'
'That's serious. Maybe she's trying to protect the son or something by follow!ng him around. But mehn, so scary! Hope they don't have our address o cos me I don't like ghosts o' he said raising his hands.
'You're a f00l. Will you stop reasoning from your anus?' I fumed
'Sorry, no vex' he let out.
All through that night I couldn't even close my eyes. I was so scared to my bones that I had to cover myself with a wrapper from my head down to my toes.
The following day, I strolled out again to my aboki friends noodles spot. I went inside to sit unusually, I used to prefer sitting outside by the road before the spot, but I was now so scared of Damian and his mom. He already made me a plate of noodles and a cup of tea, I was about sipping from the tea when I heard 'uncle'.
I looked beside me, it was Damian with his mom standing behind him. I flung the cup of tea into the air and made my way out through the other entrance.
'Oga Mike! Oga Mike!!' I heard my aboki friend call from afar but at that moment, I wished I could develop wings cos I felt my pace wasn't fast enough despite the race.
I even ran past Donatus by our gate who stood there talking with my landlords daughter. As soon as I ran past him he dragged me back by my shirt and held me so tight in his arms like one who just caught a th!ef.
By Blessing-Enejo Abrahams Elleywrite's.
'Mike! Calm down!! Calm down!!!' Donatus said still holding me in his arms while my landlords daughter stood before him with folded arms, waiting to hear what is after this guy that always disturbs her , I suppose.
I took Donatus aside and told him I saw the boy and his mom again, and he held me by the hand like a little boy who had lost mama's money and then asked us to go back there so he could see for himself. I refused initially but after much persuasion I agreed. We arrived the aboki spot but they were no longer there.
'Oga Mike, what happened? Why did you run out of here like that? That little boy had been waiting to see you but he just left'
'To where?' Donatus queried.
'I don't really know but he went that way' the aboki guy said pointing towards a direction.
'Guy, lets go and look for them?' said Donatus, looking at me.
'Look for who? God forbid.' I said snapping my fingers around my head
'I'm going back home o' I added.
'Is everything ok?' the aboki queried giving us a stern look.
'Yes, fine' I replied with a nod.
Donatus ended up convincing me again and then we went in search of them. As soon as we entered the other street I saw Damian sitted with his mother. I paused and took a few steps backward, they didn't see me. Then I pointed at them and showed them to Donatus.
'There they are ' I said.
'I'm seeing just the little boy' he said.
'How? Are you blind? You mean you can't see the lady beside him?' I queried
'I swear I'm seeing just the little boy' he said again.
Then I put my two hands on my head.
'I am finished ' I said.
'What have I gotten myself into? It's only in movies and novels I see things like this ooo' I lamented with my hands still on my head.
Then Damian turned all of a sudden to look at us, Donatus and I both froze as we heard the word 'uncle'.
I sprinted home without one of my slippers and Donatus met me home after like 30 minutes.
I couldn't go out for days, and finally decided to visit Akoji's place for the first time. He was so happy to see me in his beautiful house, his mom stayed with him.
'Daddy!' I heard from the living room.
'You have a child? Or what am I hearing?!' I queried teasingly.
'Yes now, oh I never mentioned that to you' he said grinning.
Then the child walked into the living room and lo and behold, it was Damian...
