“No Black History without Hoodoo History”Baby, let me tell you somethin’...Ain’t no Black history without Hoodoo history.Don’t let nobody whitewash it, erase it, or tuck it behind church pews.Hoodoo is the whisper of our grandmamas,the rootwork of our granddaddies,the medicine that healed uswhen the doctor’s door was closed to Black skin.It’s the red clay in our hands,the sweet smell of sage smolderin’ in a tin can,the prayer moaned low in the midnight hour.It’s the jar of wild honey sittin’ on the shelf,the roots boiled down into a tea that’ll cure what ails you,and the blessing oil rubbed on a baby’s head for protection.We survived because of Hoodoo.We loved through Hoodoo.We healed through Hoodoo.Don’t you see? It was more than spells and charmsit was resistance.It was a balm for our wounds when the lash cut deep,it was courage when the world tried to break us,it was love poured out through every herb, every prayer, every ritual.They’ll tell you it’s evil, baby,but that’s ‘cause they feared the power they could never steal.Hoodoo is us rememberin’ we belong to the land,to the rivers, to the stars our ancestors followed to freedom.It’s the fire in the kitchen pot,the healing hands that made salves from pine resin and wild mint,the songs that kept our spirits alive when chains tried to choke the breath outta us.Don’t you forgetevery time you light a candle,every time you speak to your ancestors,every time you put your hands in the soil to grow somethin’ good,you are standin’ in the tradition that carried us here.So I say it plain, child:There ain’t no Black history without Hoodoo history.Hoodoo is Black survival.Hoodoo is Black love.Hoodoo is Black future.And as long as my heart beats,and these roots stay planted,we gon’ keep callin’ on that powerthat medicine, that loveto heal, to protect, and to rise. ❤ Ladrica Norfleet join Homesteading 🌿Hoodoo🌿 Holistic Health & Wealth
