The royal throne is made of wood and covered in gold and silver. It is adorned with semi-precious stones and colored glass. Two protruding lion heads guard the seat of the throne, while its arms are shaped like winged uraei or rearing cobras. These cobras wear the double crown of Kemet and protect the cartouches bearing the king's names.
In Kemetian hieroglyphs, the throne is referred to as "Ist," named after the mother goddess Isis, who was often depicted with a throne as her distinctive emblem atop her head.
